This mirrors what its main rivals are doing with M-Sport, S Line and AMG Line options.Up front, there’s a good-sized glovebox and a couple of generous cupholders, plus a small storage area under the arm rest with USB, 12V and an aux-in jack. Ahead of the gear lever is a small shelf that can be optioned as a wireless phone charger.The XE’s boot is a decent size.Jaguar had the XE’s safety credentials underlined when it received a full five-star rating from the crash test experts at Euro NCAP. There’s a range of driver aids to help prevent an accident in the first place including anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, Torque Vectoring by Braking (TVbB) that helps a car get round a corner if taken a little faster than normal.The basics of the Jaguar XE’s interior have always been fairly spot-on. There’s a wraparound feel to the cabin, with a high-set window line and dashboard making you feel cocooned, if at the expense of visibility. There’s a thick styling detail that envelops driver and passenger, continuing through the tops of the doors onto the dashboard and culminating in a Jaguar badge for a really cohesive look.The analogue gauges on entry-level cars are handsome and easy to read and the further you go up the trim levels.There’s a single diesel offered in the XE – it too is a 2.0-litre four cylinder, producing 204hp and badged D200.It does offer the greatest posted fuel economy, making it a good choice for high-mileage drivers or those looking to cut costs as much as possible.The Jaguar XE is great fun to drive .
